Easily Removed Bulb

Put a bit of petroleum jelly on the base of a light bulb before turning it into an outside light fixture.  This will make it easier to remove when it burns out.

Free Dusting Aid

Save money and use a slightly dampend cloth to dust your furniture, etc. Instead of commercial wipes, etc. use a clean cotton towel or rag and spray lightly with water or make your hand wet and rub it along the cloth a few times until it is slightly damp.  It will catch the dirt, help wipe off finger marks, etc. and when you are done using it, simply dry it and add it to your laundry so it can be used again instead of wasting money and adding to our landfills, etc.

Insulation for draft at doors

Instead of using weather stripping tape (that sometimes is too thick and stops the door from closing) use felt.  Cut as many layers of felt as needed to keep the air from coming in and glue as needed.

Packing Peanuts Reused

Put the “plastic peanuts” used for shipping packing in the bottom of your flower pots.  They're light weight but still allow for drainage.

Water spots from sprinklers, etc.

To remove water spots on your windows, etc. from sprinklers on your lawn, spray the window with vinegar (do not dilute with water) and wipe dry.  The vinegar will clean your window and dissolve the lime from the water.  Non-toxic, inexpensive and already in your kitchen cupboard, no additional bottle of cleaner to purchase or store in your cabinet.

Bathtub Cleaning

Outdoor work and play will often leave a “ring around the bathtub” at cleanup time.  There's no need to stoop or kneel to scrub, though.  Just wet the tub, sprinkle with cleanser and sweep with a child-size broom.  The stiff bristles will have the tub spotless in record time.

Laminate Floor Cleaning Solution-Homemade

Mix equal parts of rubbing alcohol, white vinegar and water plus three small squirts of dishwashing liquid (like Dawn).  This saves you money from buying another cleaner product and space to store it and is in your home when you need it.  No harsh chemicals either or nasties in your laundry from washing cleaners out of your mop or scrub rag.  This recipe is from a floor installer.

Cheese Grater Cleaning Magic

Before using a grater, etc. for grating or slicing cheese, spray it with vegetable spray, like Pam olive oil.  The cheese will not stick and it is not harmful for the cheese or the eater, since it is olive oil or vegetable oil.

To mend a leakiing vase, coat the inside with a layer of paraffin (canning wax) and allow it to harden.  The paraffin will last indifinitly (unless exposed to very hot water) and the vase will not leak.

Stop Itch – Mosquitos

The best answer that I have found for stopping itching from mosquito bites, etc. is to use the same ointment that ladies use for yeast infection.  Apply it to the bite area and the itching stops very quickly.  It is easy to purchase in any store, needs no prescription, no smell, just an effective answer and help to the problem.
